The Atlanta Falcons move up in the various NFL power rankings after their 31-17 win over the Carolina Panthers this past Sunday. The win put the Falcons at .500 on the year with a 3-3 record. Even with the 14 point win over the Panthers the Falcons moved up only marginally in the power rankings and even stayed the same in others.
SB Nation's Joel Thorman did not move up the Falcons and kept them at No. 20 which is one of the lower rankings (Lions No. 6):
Hmm...lose one, win one, lose one, win one, lose one, win one. Pretty inconsistent team that's playing in a division with two very good teams.
Over at Fox Sports, Brian Billick moved the Falcons up to No. 11 (Lions No. 7):
The Falcons finally got Michael Turner rolling on Sunday, and that is exactly what they need to do to remain a consistent offense. It took pressure off the offensive line as the pass rushers couldn't just put their heads down and speed rush along the outside to disrupt Matt Ryan in the pocket all afternoon.
CBS Sports' Pete Prisco moves the Falcons up one spot to No. 15 (Lions No. 6):
That was a season-saver against the Panthers. Now they have a tough one at Detroit, which is another stiff test for their struggling defense.
