Mike Smith Taken To Hospital After Charlotte Airport Delay

Just to try and work through the timeline a little bit, here's another detail on the Sunday night hospitalization of Atlanta Falcons head coach Mike Smith. From D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution:

The Falcons' chartered plane was on the runway for 30-40 minutes, held up by an air traffic delay. When it was apparent Smith wasn't feeling well, the plane returned to the gate and the coach was taken to a Charlotte hospital.

Peter King of Sports Illustrated reported around 10 p.m. ET Sunday that Smith had been taken off the team plane and to the hospital. He reported moments later that Arthur Blank was sending a plane for Smith, who would return to Atlanta around 2 a.m. ET. Smith is expected to make it in for work on Monday as the team prepares to play the Jacksonville Jaguars Thursday night.
