Wendy Brown, Atlanta Falcons cheerleader, got a writeup in Wired's Playbook blog late last week detailing her ongoing education at Georgia Tech, her contributions to the scientific community, and involvement in a science education effort branded by the NFL. Here's an interview with her. I can highly recommend following her unique and informative Twitter, despite what you've heard about cheerleaders named Wendy Brown.
↵She's almost wrapped up a degree in biomedical engineering, which sounds very Georgia Tech, whatever it may be. Oh, here it is: she'd like to develop biological reconstructive technologies. Help me out if you know what any of this means.
↵As the father of a tiny daughter who loves to dance all day long, I really like stuff like this. Several Falcons cheerleaders besides Wendy are also pursuing careers in science and math. Arthur Blank has made a point of bringing on coaches and players who have something to offer the world even when not on TV, and it looks like that priority extends to the cheerleading squad too.
