Treasured colleague Dave Choate of The Falcoholic recently took on the matter of the Atlanta Falcons trading a slatternly heap of draft picks for the right to draft Georgia Bulldogs WR A.J. Green. A noted sports fan, he did his best to dispel the movement to draft A.J. Green, but unfortunately missed a few key arguments:
↵- ↵
- It would be cool if A.J. Green played for the Falcons. ↵
And while that may be the only argument in favor of the Falcons buying Green on credit, it's all the argument we need. Let's take it a step beyond, while we're at it.
↵The Falcons should sign Randy Moss and Terrell Owens and trade them for Carson Palmer and Nnamdi Asomugha and sign Albert Haynesworth and then trade all of them for Nick Fairley so they can trade down and draft A.J. Green and find Carson Palmer's rights and trade all of that for next year's #1 pick (which will be A.J. Green -- don't ask me how).
↵Then they should convert to the run-and-shoot but run it from a three-back pistol set, make John Abraham the nose tackle in a new 3-3-5 scheme that involves blitzes on every play, change their colors to orange and yellow, move to Gwinnett, sign Laron Landry and Larry Fitzgerald and trade them for Kevin Kolb just to trade him and Matt Ryan for the rights to next year's #2 draft pick and Matt Ryan, and then fire Thomas Dimitroff so they can go get that Rick Sund guy.
↵And then they should build a brand-new football stadium across the street from the 20-year-old, team-colored football stadium they currently play in that's somehow good enough for the Southeast's biggest annual football game.
