Five players on the list of 2011 NFL Draft first-round results joined the NFC South, led by No. 1 overall Cam Newton, the newest member of the Carolina Panthers. He walks into an immediate quarterback quandary, with Jimmy Clausen welcoming his soon-to-be competition to Charlotte.
The rest of the division wasn't expected to get going until the latter half, but the Atlanta Falcons had other ideas, slangin' a ghastly five picks to the Cleveland Browns for the chance to bring Alabama Crimson Tide WR Julio Jones across state lines.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New Orleans Saints went for pass rushers at No. 20 and No. 24, picking up Iowa Hawkeyes DE Adrian Clayborn and California Golden Bears DE Cameron Jordan. In a division that's about to be loaded with offensive playmakers, hoarding defensive disruptors is a great idea.
A less-great idea: trading picks to Bill Belichik for a running back. The Saints gave up one of their five remaining picks and their 2012 first-rounder to the Patriots for RB Mark Ingram.
