2011 HBO Hard Knocks: No Atlanta Falcons On Show, Says Mike Smith

Though Atlanta Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff hinted the team might be in a place at which an appearance on HBO's Hard Knocks reality show, coach Mike Smith has gone and shot all that down right quick. Though Smith did tell the NFL Network's Scott Hanson that doing so in the future might work, especially if a Super Bowl happens first.

The Birds are now the second team to decline a perhaps-unofficial appearance on the show, and the second from the NFC South. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were reportedly close to accepting, but turned it down, saying they'd prefer to keep the focus on fielding a full roster despite the crime wave sweeping their own locker room winning ball games or something.

This leaves the show with only two NASCAR division options: the Carolina Panthers and New Orleans Saints. Cam Newton would make for exquisite ratings, as he's an endless ham and curiosity for pro fans, while everyone thinks Drew Brees is really adorable. But the Aquacats are going through a coaching change with a likely quarterback battle, while ... everybody's already sick of the Saints, right? Please?
