Falcons Training Camp: Corey Peters Carted Off Field With Knee Injury

Falcons defensive tackle Corey Peters suffered an apparent knee injury and had to be carted off the field during Sunday's practice.

According to a report made earlier today, defensive tackle Corey Peters was carted off the practice field at Flowery Branch after suffering what appears to be a left knee injury. Peters, last year's third-round pick out of Kentucky, got most of the playing time opposite of Babineaux last season and proved himself to be a highly dependable part of the Falcons defensive tackle rotation.

Obviously any sort of injury suffered during the preseason is unfortunate, but the fact that it is a knee injury makes it every bit more serious. News like this gives me flashbacks to when Peria Jerry injured his knee in week two of the 2009 season, and it's taken almost two full seasons for Jerry to finally appear completely healthy.

With Peters out for at least the moment, I would expect Jerry to get most of Peters' snaps in the next preseason game. It could finally be a chance for Peria to really show us what he can do on the field.

Meanwhile, let's hope this injury will only be a minor setback for Peters. It will be a big blow to a defensive line that looked really strong against the Dolphins if he is forced to miss any time during the regular season.
