James Sanders Meeting With Atlanta Falcons After Patriots Cut, According To Report

Recently cut Patriots safety is coming in for a visit with the Atlanta Falcons, according to a report.

Longtime New England Patriots safety James Sanders will meet with the Atlanta Falcons on Tuesday, according to Adam SchefterSanders was cut Monday, a move that caught Pats fans -- and Sanders himself -- off guard.

I don't know a whole lot about Sanders, but The Falcoholic's Dave Choate has been all about him all day long. Atlanta definitely has room for a little veteran presence in its secondary, though I don't think Sanders would be able to challenge for a starting spot with William Moore and Thomas DeCoud in place.

Sanders has 301 tackles in his six NFL years since leaving Fresno State. He was a fourth-round pick who's earned praise from Bill Belichick for his leadership and intelligence. General manager Thomas Dimitroff was a part of New England's front office during Sanders' early years -- ESPN Boston's Mike Reiss says he seems to remember Dimitroff being high on the two-time All-WAC defender.
