Dunta Robinson Fined $40,000 For Jeremy Maclin Hit, But Not Suspended

The NFL has fined Atlanta Falcons cornerback Dunta Robinson $40,000 for a helmet-first hit on Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Jeremy Maclin, the second such fine in Robinson's short Atlanta tenure. He avoided a suspension, but the NFL's Merton Hanks cautioned that another violation will likely result in missed playing time.

Kind of weird that Robinson was fined $10,000 less for this hit than the one he delivered to DeSean Jackson. That fine was later reduced to $25,000, so ... I'm confused.

Though that one looked worse since Jackson was injured, this hit was less justifiable from a football perspective. This hit was also his second, and you'd think the NFL would escalate given that fact.

Oh well, I guess. Don't really feel like celebrating this news since it would feel like condoning bad tackling, but it is good for the team to be able to keep a defensive starter on the field against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
