NFL Free Agency: Brent Grimes Could Receive Falcons' Franchise Tag

Atlanta Falcons cornerback Brent Grimes is one of a number of players that could receive a franchise tag before the tag window closes nine days from now. Atlanta has shown a great interest in bringing back Grimes and seem to be willing to use the Franchise Tag to do so even though they have shown reluctance in the past.

Dave Choate of The Falcoholic writes that many question the desire to bring back Grimes into a new defensive scheme but that new defensive coordinator Mike Nolan has input on the decision and it would be unlikely they would pursue Grimes if Nolan didn't think he was a solid fit.

Other options at corner that the Falcons have under contract are Darrin Walls, Dominique Franks, Chris Owens and Dunta Robinson. Add Grimes back to that group and it could be one of the better units in the NFL next season.
