Atlanta Falcons Re-Sign Michael Palmer, Antone Smith

The Atlanta Falcons have a long list of free agents to work through, so let's get started! After applying the franchise tag to cornerback Brent Grimes (which he's not all that thrilled about), Atlanta announced tight end Michael Palmer and running back Antone Smith have signed exclusive rights contracts.

Unless Atlanta drafts a tight end this year, as many are expecting, Palmer could be the heir apparent to Tony Gonzalez. No pressure! He had 10 catches last year and has 15 in his two-year career. He also played football at Parkview High, which we're required by local law to mention every time his name is brought up.

Smith plays primarily on special teams. He has only one regular season carry in his two seasons. He's good at special teams, though, picking up seven tackles last year.
