The Atlanta Falcons have agreed to terms with free agent guard Vince Manuwal, but the contract details have not been disclosed. Manuwal was a third round draft pick for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2003 and has spent his entire nine-year career with the the Jaguars, many of those under current Falcons OC Dirk Koetter. During his time with the Jaguars, Manuwal was a key player in the success they had at running the ball.
There are concerns about Manuwai's health since he tore his ACL and MCL in 2008, he missed five games in 2010 due to a back injury and did not play this past season after he was released from the Jaguars in July since he came into camp out of shape and also had a foot injury.
This looks to be a medium-risk, high-reward move for the Falcons, because if Manuwai can return to his pre-injury form then he will definitely be able to help out on the line. The offensive line is having an open competition on the offensive line and Manuwai will be competing with Garrett Reynolds, Joe Hawley and Mike Johnson for the starting right guard position.
