Atlanta Falcons Still Mulling 'Hard Knocks,' According To Reports

The Atlanta Falcons haven't yet said yes or no to HBO's "Hard Knocks," according to multiple reports. Thomas Dimitroff talked with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Thursday and didn't confirm or deny the move:

"Like all of us, we've watched it over the years and there have been some highlights," Dimitroff said. "There have been some highlights, no questions about that. It's interesting TV."

"I am proud of where we are," Dimitroff said. "I feel that we are the type of organization that would be considered in not only this situation that you are referring to, but other situations from a national perspective. We need to continue to build (owner Arthur Blank's) brand."

This contrasts with head coach Mike Smith's comments a fews back that the team wouldn't be interested, which means that sentiment for the positive outcomes of the HBO program - a ton of national publicity, a huge audience and a general elevation of the Falcons' name brand and players - has crossed the mind of Arthur Blank and company.

Before the New York Jets and Rex Ryan turned "Hard Knocks" into a comedic, bombastic behind the scenes documentary in 2010, the show largely centered around back-room meetings between coaches and general managers to try and trim the preseason roster and decide which rookies and undrafted free agents to keep. Entering 2012, Atlanta has no major position battles at skill spots, nor any off-field issues.
