The Atlanta Falcons Want No Parts Of HBO's Hard Knocks In 2012

Hearing Roddy White and Julio Jones talk crazy to one another during receiver drills in training camp (with their Alabama swag in full effect) would've been extremely entertaining for anyone to witness. However, the Atlanta Falcons brass put the dagger in the heart of HBO's Hard Knocks. Per ESPN's Pat Yasinskas, the Falcons declined the opportunity to appear on the HBO reality television series.

Oh what could have been.

When "Bounty Game" took over the NFL headlines, gasoline was thrown on the fire with a documentary film that had content of then New Orleans Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams instructing his defensive unit to do specific tactics versus the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship Game.

''Beat (running back) Frank Gore's head,'' and ''lay out'' quarterback Alex Smith. He also reminds his players that receiver Michael Crabtree ''becomes human when we . . . take out that outside ACL,'' were the quotes from Williams that caused plenty of concern for the NFL and the Falcons probably don't want to risk anything like this for their organization.

Its the real shame of "Bounty Gate" and the 24/7 news cycle that we live in now, because we lose out on the opportunity for transparency with documentaries and the like. The Falcons probably did the right thing, but I would've loved to hear them talk about the 2-point game vs. the Giants, Julio vs. Roddy and the shenanigans of Sean Witherspoon on full display.
