Not that it's much of a shock at this point, but Atlanta Falcons cornerback Brent Grimes is not expected to be with the team today when it begins its voluntary offseason training program on Monday.
"The workouts or phase one, will be voluntary and that’s something that we can’t control," Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff said. "Obviously, we’d like to have him in the building, but those are voluntary."
The Falcons placed the franchise tag on Grimes back in March. He has yet to sign the tender, though, as he continues to seek a long-term deal with Atlanta, which the Falcons have stated in the past that they aren't opposed to.
Grimes is not actually required to be at any Falcons team activity until the team's mandatory minicamp begins on June 19.
