Asante Samuel Trade: New Falcons' DB Holds Teleconference

Asante Samuel held a media teleconference this evening after his trade from the Philadelphia Eagles to the Atlanta Falcons had been announced. During the session he expressed his happiness for joining the Falcons and how he might fit in with his new team.

I'm happy to be a Falcon. I know the city is embracing me well. I'm excited. I know the Falcons already have an excellent team, excellent coaches, schemes and talent. I'm just going to add to the bunch to try to get the one common goal.

Samuel talked about the familiarity that he had with Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff that dates back to their days with New England. He also said that he had spoken a couple of times with coach Mike Smith and that he felt he would fit in well with Brent Grimes and Dunta Robinson.

Whatever I need to do and whatever's best to help the team win, I'm ready to do. Wherever they need to play me at left, right, back or forth and make a difference.
