Peter Konz Adjusts To A New Position And Geography At Falcons Rookie Minicamp

Georgia is definitely a bit different compared to Wisconsin.

This is just one of the many things that rookie offensive lineman Peter Konz will have to adjust to as a member of the Atlanta Falcons. The rookie was a standout performer as a member of the Wisconsin Badgers as the team's center. The Falcons will rely on his ability to play center, but also to use his physical abilities to play guard as well.

In a recent interview, Konz admits that learning on the fly has been a heavy undertaking:

"They threw us a playbook and said ‘Go memorize it at home. Get in there and learn as much as you can as fast as you can. This is stuff you might’ve had at whatever school you were at, but it’s all different names so you’ve got to memorize a lot." -- Peter Konz

The Falcons have been decimated by injuries to the offensive line in the past, and having players like Konz that are flexible in playing multiple positions can only help head coach Mike Smith and quarterback Matt Ryan progress in 2012 and beyond.
