The Atlanta Falcons signed their second-round draft pick, former Wisconsin center Peter Konz on Sunday. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
Konz was projected to be a late first-round draft pick in the 2012 NFL draft, yet was picked by the Falcons with the 55th overall pick, in the second round. The 55th pick of the 2011 NFL draft, Kansas City offensive lineman Rodney Hudson, was signed to a four-year contract worth $3.5 million that included a $1 million signing bonus.
Konz was selected by the Falcons for his ability to play multiple positions on the offensive line. Playing center and guard could be vital for Atlanta, as injuries to the offensive line in 2011 made focusing on depth a big issue to address in the 2012 draft.
