The newly acquired Asante Samuel wasted little time in making his presence felt to his new teammates. Samuel stepped on the field and instantly began begging quarterback Matt Ryan to throw the ball his way. He ended practice with two interceptions and talked about his first day of practice with his new club.
"That's what you've got to do, put the bull's eye on your shoulder and step up to the table. That's how you get better. If you're talking (trash) and telling them they can't do this and do that, of course they're going to try. You've just got to back it up. If you don't back it up, they're going to clown you."
Samuel's addition will mix up some roles with incumbents Brent Grimes and Dunta Robinson still on the roster. The trio however should fit nicely into new defensive coordinator Mike Nolan's pressure oriented system.
