VIDEO: Josh Smith Calls Out Atlanta Hawks Fans, 'We Need Help'

In the spirit of election week, Atlanta Hawks forward Josh Smith looked straight into the camera while being interviewed on-court after last night's win over the Detroit Pistons to send out a personal plea for better attendance by Hawks fans. Either that, or Smith is trying out his promo skills in advance of WrestleMania XXVI, which will be held down the street at the Georgia Dome in just a few months.

↵↵Please come out, fans, to support us because we are the No. 1 team. And with your support we'll definitely continue to be the No. 1 team. We just need that sixth-man help, and if we keep doing the same things on the court I think that we'll be unstoppable.

To the dismay of longtime Hawks fans like Michael Elkon of Braves & Birds, the team was 18th in attendance last year despite playing in one of the country's best NBA towns. They're 24th this year, though (A) football season is still going, and (B) the biggest team that has visited Philips thus far is the Washington Wizards, currently 1-2.

A few Hawks fans may still be put off by Joe Johnson's remarks from last year's playoffs, but nobody's really talked about that in months.
