The Atlanta Hawks added the nephew of a legend to the fold when they signed Damien Wilkins to a contract on Friday. The 30-year old swingman is the son of former NBA player Gerald Wilkins and the nephew of Hall of Famer and current Hawks announcer Dominique Wilkins.
↵Damien Wilkins had his best game as a pro against the Hawks, posting a career-high 41 points in the 2007-08 season while with the Seattle SuperSonics. He has played in parts of six NBA seasons with the Seattle/Oklahoma City franchise and the Minnesota Timberwolves, posting averages of 7.2 points and 2.7 rebounds per game.
↵Wilkins tried to make the Memphis Grizzlies roster earlier this season, but was cut after appearing in two preseason games. He will wear No. 3 with Atlanta.
↵The guard/forward played two seasons of collegiate ball with North Carolina State before transferring to Georgia in 2002. Just like his uncle, Dominique, he failed to make it into the NCAA tournament in his two seasons with the Bulldogs.
↵Here's a video of some of Damien Wilkins' greatest dunks while with the Sonics.
