In an attempt to strengthen the connection between the NBA Developmental League and their big league affiliates, the NBA announced a policy update. Players invited to a team's training camp who are subsequently cut can be assigned to that team's D-League affiliate, keeping them in the organization. This might help make the D-League more resemble a proper minor league structure, even though there are clear obstacles and problems with that process.
