Looking to improve their depth with Jeff Teague struggling with a hamstring injury, the Atlanta Hawks signed free agent shooting guard Willie Green Thursday:
Green, a second round pick out of Detroit Mercy in 2003, has played for the Philadelphia 76ers and the New Orleans Hornets over an eight-year NBA career.
An undersized 6'4 200 shooting guard, Green has primarily been a bench scorer, with a career average of 9.9 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.6 assists on 42.5% shooting.
Along with newly signed free agents Tracy McGrady, Jannero Pargo and Jerry Stackhouse, Green will try to replace the bench production the Hawks got from former Sixth Man of the Year Jamal Crawford, who signed with Portland last week.
With a limited amount of practice time available before Atlanta starts their season at New Jersey on Dec. 27, it's unclear how soon Green will be able to step on the court.
