NBA Free Agency 2011: Jason Collins Reportedly Will Re-Sign In Atlanta

Jason Collins, the Atlanta Hawks 7'0 255 center, will reportedly stay in Atlanta on a one-year deal:

Free agent forward Jason Collins will return to the Atlanta Hawks with a one-year deal, a league source tells Yahoo! Sports.

Collins has never produced much statistically, as he averaged 2.0 points and 2.1 rebounds for the Hawks last season.

But he does give Atlanta some much-needed size in the front-court, and his ability to defend Dwight Howard 1-on-1 in the low post and give six strong fouls was crucial in the Hawks first-round victory over Orlando in last year's playoffs.

A ten-year NBA veteran out of Stanford, Collins was the starting center for the New Jersey Nets in their two trips to the NBA Finals earlier in the decade, where he performed the same function against Tim Duncan and Shaq that he does against Howard now.
