Al Horford drove the lane and posted a dunk over Amare Stoudemire. Take that Amare!
However, that's about as exciting as the first half of the game between the Atlanta Hawks and the New York Knicks has gotten so far.
Horford has four points, but Stoudemire has 12 to lead the Knicks to a 52-45 lead at the half. Raymond Felton posted 11 points and Wilson Chandler added nine off of the bench for New York, which lead by as many as 14 in the second quarter.
This one boils down to too little Hawks defense. The Knicks have had a number of open looks and are draining the shots that they take. New York is shooting 21-for-40 (53-percent) from the field, while the Hawks have connected on just 17-of-42 (41-percent) of their tries. As a result, the Knicks have the lead at the break.
Marvin Williams leads the Hawks with 11, while Mike Bibby has nine points on three 3-pointers for Atlanta, which has allowed 12 New York fast break points.
Josh Smith has eight points after a scoreless first period.
