The sore right calf injury that plagued Kirk Hinrich in his final two games with the Washington Wizards has cropped up again.
Hinrich, the Atlanta Hawks' main acquisition at the trade deadline, will sit out Monday night's contest against the Denver Nuggets, according to Hawks beatwriter Michael Cunningham of the AJC. Jeff Teague will make his fourth straight start at point guard.
But Hinrich is not the only player that will not suit up for this one. Nuggets forward Danilo Gallinari will miss the game with a big toe injury. Gallinari was one of the players acquired by Denver in the trade that shipped Carmelo Anthony and Chauncey Billups to the New York Knicks.
Hinrich was traded from the Wizards along with reserve center Hilton Armstrong in exchange for Mike Bibby, Jordan Crawford, Maurice Evans and a first round pick. He scored eight points in each of his first two games for Atlanta. All those points came off the bench for the team.
Another former Hawk made big news on Monday. Bibby reached an agreement for a buyout of his contract earlier in the day. He reportedly agreed to walk away from next year's $6.2 million guaranteed salary in exchange for his freedom according to Yahoo! Sports' Marc J. Spears. Bibby is expected to sign with the Miami Heat once the deal goes through.
The Hawks tip off against the Nuggets at 9:00 p.m. EST. The game can be seen on SportSouth.
