One thing's for sure, the Atlanta Hawks came out of this one with a good bit of energy on both sides of the floor. So far, so good for Atlanta's basketball team.
Al Horford has six points and five boards and Josh Smith also netted six to post the Hawks to a 23-18 lead over the Orlando Magic in Game 6 of their first round series on Thursday night at Philips Arena.
Dwight Howard has eight points and Jason Richardson added five for the Magic, who are shooting 47-percent (8-for-17) from the field.
The Hawks are connecting on just 32-percent (8-for-25) of their shots. Nevertheless, they are controlling the boards and controlling the game.
Atlanta's been extra-active attacking the glass and getting putback buckets in this one. They outrebound an Orlando team with Howard in the middle by a 14-5 margin through 12 minutes of basketball.
The Hawks have also been aided by five Magic turnovers, three of which by Howard.
It looks like Atlanta has shut down Orlando's perimeter game. The Magic had just three tries from beyond the arc in the first quarter, connecting on one of them.
