The Atlanta Dream lead the Washington Mystics 47-40 at the half behind a balanced effort offensively. All eleven players on the roster played in the first half and nine of them scored including forward Angel McCoughtry who finally made her season debut in the second quarter. McCoughtry has been out with an injured knee.
Atlanta hit on 50 percent of their shots in the first half and cranked up the defensive pressure forcing the Mystics into 17 first half turnovers.
Sancho Lyttle leads the Dream with eight points while Lindsey Harding has seven. Erika DeSouza scored six points and grabbed a team high five rebounds. Armintie Price has seven points off the bench for Atlanta. McCoughtry returned playing three minutes in the first half scoring two points on 1 for 4 shooting.
The Mystics are led by Nicky Anosike's 15 points and six rebounds. Crystal Langhorne scored 13 while Matee Ajavon added 12 of her own.
If there is a concern for the Dream it is how routinely Washington has gotten the ball in the paint against the Atlanta front court. The result has been more fouls for Dream and more free throws for the Mystics who were 12 for 15 in the first half.
