Washington outscored Atlanta 17-10 in the fourth quarter and forced the game into overtime. It is the second straight overtime game for the Dream who lost their season opener against the New York Liberty. Atlanta was struggled offensively in the fourth turning the ball over 20 times and hitting on only 16 of 26 free throw attempts.
Erika DeSouza helped the Dream build as much as an eleven point lead with 20 points and 14 rebounds at the end of regulation. Iziane Castro Marrques has 16 points and Armintie Price has 12 off the bench for Atlanta.
Crystal Langhorne and Nicky Anosike each have a game high 27 points for Washington. Former Atlanta Dream guard Kelly Miller has eight points including a game tying three with under a minute remaining in regulation.
Atlanta forward Angel McCoughtry played three minutes in the first half but did not return in the second. She missed the season opener with an injured knee suffered in training camp.
