Al Horford Injury: Surgery To Repair Torn Pectoral Muscle Successful

Al Horford is recovering after a successful surgical procedure to repair his torn pectoral muscle, according to the Atlanta Hawks. Horford also Tweeted out updates on his status, and is expected to be out 3-4 months recovering. According to the team, the procedure was performed by Dr. Xavier Duralde of Peachtree Orthopaedic Clinic. He was assisted by Hawks team physicians Michael Bernot and Ashok Reddy.

Atlanta has won three straight since Horford (averaging 12.4 points and seven rebounds a game) went out of the lineup with the injury against the Indiana Pacers January 11. As Peachtree Hoops notes, since Horford's injury, both Josh Smith and Joe Johnson have improved their play to compensate for the lost center. The Hawks will face their toughest challenge since losing Horford on Wednesday night against the Portland Trailblazers.
