If the Hawks thought their schedule was grueling over the first few days of the season then they are in for a surprise over the next week. After opening the season with four games in five nights the Hawks will play a road back-to-back set with Miami and Chicago on Monday and Tuesday. The team will have an off day before opening their first three game stretch of the season on Thursday at home against the Heat. Atlanta looked tired against Houston Saturday night but it is about to get a lot worse.
Atlanta suffered its first loss in Houston on Saturday and Hawks coach Larry Drew wasn't at all pleased with the performance. The Hawks fell behind 20-9 early and played catch up the rest of the night.
"They came out and played at a higher level than we did," Hawks coach Larry Drew said. "We didn't fly around and contest (shots). We reverted back into short close-outs. ... Shot selection was not very good either. The timing of shots were not good."
On Sunday, the Miami Heat avenged a near upset bid by the Charlotte Bobcats responding with a 129-90 win. No Miami starter played more than 30 minutes in the game and should be well rested and waiting on the Hawks tonight.
