The Atlanta Hawks will make their fourth stop on a five game road trip on Sunday in New Orleans to face the Hornets. Atlanta dodged a bullet on Friday night when the escaped Detroit with a 107-101 overtime win over the Pistons. The Hawks trailed for virtually the entire game until a Joe Johnson three-pointer with just 1.9 seconds remaining tied things up and forced overtime where Atlanta eventually pulled away.
Atlanta may need another big night out of Johnson if they are to break a three-game losing streak to the Hornets. The last time these two teams met New Orleans embarrassed the Hawks 100-59 at Philips Arena last January.
The Hornets snapped a nine-game losing streak Friday night with a 93-67 win over the Orlando Magic. At 4-15, New Orleans has already started its rebuilding project and they are looking to further that along having placed center Chris Kaman on the trading block. Kaman has been inactive the last two games and won't suit up for the Hornets again as they don't want to risk an injury while they attempt to trade him.
Atlanta also could be without one of its key contributors in point guard Jeff Teague who injured his ankle Friday against the Pistons. Teague left midway through the third quarter in Detroit and didn't return to the game. He was able to take part in practice on Saturday and is officially listed as day-to-day.
