Hawks Vs. Nets Score: Josh Smith Lifts Atlanta To 31-18 First Quarter Lead

The Atlanta Hawks jumped out to a fast start behind 10 first quarter points from Josh Smith as they take a first quarter lead of 31-18 over the New Jersey Nets. Atlanta shot over 63 percent in the first quarter making 14-22 field goal attempts.

Smith hit 4-5 attempts and added a couple of rebounds and an assist before heading to the bench with two fouls. Joe Johnson and Al Horford each finished with six points in the first. Johnson dished out a team high three assists in the quarter.

While the Hawks were hot, the offensive struggles of the New Jersey Nets continued as they were just 5-17 in the opening quarter. Anthony Morrow and Shawne Williams each hit three pointers in the opening quarter and lead the team with three points. Deron Williams ended the quarter with two points and three assists but also has two early turnovers.
