Joe Johnson left the game in the third quarter of the Atlanta Hawks 90-79 loss to the Chicago Bulls when tendinitis became an issue in his left knee. The team knew about Johnson's knee prior to the game and he wore a soft brace and expected everything to be fine. Before Johnson left the game in the third quarter he had 12 points. Now according to the Hawks, Johnson is doubtful to play against the New York Knicks on Wednesday.
With the Hawks struggling as they have ben by losing seven of their last 10 games, the last thing they need is for their leading scorer to miss significant time. With the All-Star game coming up this weekend it would be an ideal time for Johnson to rest his knee, but he did make the Eastern Conference squad so the rest that he could be getting may not be there if Johnson ends up participating in All-Star weekend.
With Johnson likely out on Wednesday against the Knicks this could leas to more playing time Willie Green or even possibly to the disgruntled Tracy McGrady.
