The Atlanta got a big first-half from center Zaza Pachulia but find themselves trailing the Sacramento Kings 52-51 at halftime.
Pachulia logged a double-double in the first half with 10 points and 10 rebounds to lead the club in both categories. Josh Smith scored nine points in the first half while Jeff Teague and Marvin Williams each finished with eight. Williams came off the bench as Hawks coach Larry Drew matched Sacramento's three-guard look with Teague flanked by Kirk Hinrich and Joe Johnson. Hinrich finished the half with seven points and Joe Johnson five for Atlanta.
DeMarcus Cousins caused Atlanta all sorts of problems in the first half finishing with 17 points and six rebounds before heading to the bench with three personal fouls. Jimmer Fredette came off the bench to score seven while John Salmons and Tyreke Evans have six points each.
Both teams shot over 50 percent from the field in the first half but Atlanta was just 4-9 from the free throw line with Josh Smith going 0-4. Atlanta has a 24-16 rebounding advantage but turned the ball over nine times in the first half.
