There will be a familiar face roaming the sideline at Philips Arena Friday night as former Hawks head coach Mike Woodson returns to Atlanta for the first time as the new head coach of the New York Knicks.
Since replacing Mike D'Antoni on the bench, Woodson has led a turnaround of sorts for the Knicks who come into Friday's matchup riding a four game winning streak. However, the Knicks will be without at least one o fits key players in Amare Stoudemire who is out with a back problem. Jeremy Lin has missed the last two games with an injured knee and his status for Friday's game is uncertain.
The Hawks just wrapped up a five game in six day stretch with back-to-back losses to the Milwaukee Bucks and the Chicago Bulls. Josh Smith led the Hawks with 19 points against the Bulls and is averaging 25.5 points and 12.2 rebounds over his last six games.
