Ivan Johnson Named Rookie Of The Month For April

Atlanta Hawks rookie Ivan Johnson was named as the NBA's Rookie of the Month for April after averaging 10.7 points and 5.9 rebounds this month. Johnson led all rookies in steals averaging 1.45 per game. He also led all first-players with a .582 shooting percentage for the month.

Johnson has gone from training camp afterthought to somewhat of a cult hero with the Hawks this season. Not only did Johnson make the team he played a huge part especially down the stretch where he filled in as the back up center.

Johnson has appeared in 56 games for the Hawks this season and is averaging 6.4 points and 4.0 rebounds per contest. With the status of Al Horford and Zaza Pachulia in doubt for the first-round of the playoffs, the Hawks will be counting on Johnson to continue his recent good play.
