Derrick Rose suffered a torn ACL in his knee during Chicago's Game 1 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers. Rose will miss the remainder of the playoffs which means that the winner of the Hawks-Celtics series will take on either Philadelphia or a Chicago team without its best player.
Chicago is still favored to beat the Sixers in the series even without Rose. Afterall the Bulls were without Rose for 20+ games during the regular season and were still able to hold off the Miami Heat and claim the East's top seed. However, would Rose's absence open the door for a team like Atlanta should the Hawks survive their series with Boston?
Remember the Hawks lost to Chicago 4-2 last season in the second round of the playoffs in a competitive series. Jeff Teague enjoyed a breakout series in that series and spent most of the time matched up against the league's MVP in Rose. If the Hawks don't get past Boston, then the Celtics would surely be favored in the second round over a Bulls team without Derrick Rose.
