Smith was injured in the fourth quarter of Atlanta's Game 2 loss to the Celtics. He left the game with just over four minutes remaining and did not return. Initial reports indicated a sprained patella ligament in his knee but that has not been confirmed by the team.
Atlanta can't afford to lose Smith for any length of time with Zaza Pachulia and Al Horford both still out. The series shifts to Boston on Friday for Game 3 and the Hawks could be facing the prospect of having to play without their top 3 front court players.
