Following the first half of Game 3 of the first round of the NBA Playoffs between the Atlanta Hawks and Boston Celtics, the Celtics carry a 40-38 lead into halftime. With defense once again setting the stage, the Celtics managed to put up some points late to pull ahead before the end of the second.
The story of the half had to be Tracy McGrady, who put up 10 of the Hawks 19 second quarter points. Shooting 5-of-9 from the field, pulling down six boards and dishing one assist, McGrady played a total of 16:43 before seemingly tweaking his angle late in the stanza. It is still unknown as to the extent of the injury or if he will return.
Despite ending the half ahead, the Celtics did not play their best basketball and were lucky to escape with the lead. Atlanta's Joe Johnson led all scorers with 12 points, while Paul Pierce and McGrady both scored 10.
