NBA Mock Draft 2012: Hawks Take Royce White In First Round

The Atlanta Hawks had a resurgent year during the lockout-shortened 2011-12 NBA Season. They will attempt to build on that success in the coming year and have that in mind heading into the 2012 NBA Draft.

Chad Ford of ESPN Insider has posted his latest mock draft. He believes that the Hawks will use their No. 23 overall pick to select Royce White of the Iowa St. Cyclones.

Atlanta

Royce White

Position: SF
Height: 6-foot-8
Weight: 261 pounds
Age: 21
School: Iowa State
Analysis: As long as coach Larry Drew can buy into what White is and how to play him, he could be a steal at this point in the draft. The Hawks don't really have a primary ball handler anyway, which may make White a great choice if he's allowed to play his game.

Atlanta is low enough in the first round that White -- as well as their other potential targets -- could be off the board by the time their pick rolls around. We will have to wait and see how it all plays out.
