Danny Ferry is set to become the new president of basketball operations and general manager of the Atlanta Hawks, according to a news release issued by the team. Ferry will come over from the San Antonio Spurs, where he was the team’s vice president of basketball operations from 2010-2012
"Over the past nine years Danny Ferry has earned tremendous respect as a front office executive in the NBA," said Atlanta Hawks partner, Bruce Levenson. "His philosophy, character, and commitment to creating enduring and successful organizations exemplify exactly what we are looking for in a leader of the Atlanta Hawks."
While the team did not release the specifics of Ferry's contract, it is believed that he was offered a six-year deal.
He takes over a Hawks team that went 40-26 last season and was eliminated by the Boston Celtics in the first round of the NBA playoffs.
