NBA Mock Draft 2012: Hawks Select Fab Melo At No. 23

With Danny Ferry now at the helm of the Atlanta Hawks, there isn't much indication of which way he'll go in the NBA draft. However, Stephen Alexander of Rotoworld believes they will select Syracuse's Fab Melo at No. 23.

Given the fact that Al Horford is really a power forward and that Zaza Pachulia could be starting at center next season, the Hawks have a glaring need. Melo should be a solid source of rebounds and blocks, and clearly fills a need.

While Melo should provide size, there's a question as to whether he is NBA-ready. He made strides offensively in his second season at Syracuse, but his growth was stunted after being declared ineligible for March. There also have been question marks about his focus and commitment level.
