Josh Smith Trade Rumors: Danny Ferry Holding Off ... For Now

Atlanta Hawks forward Josh Smith, a talented but enigmatic forward in the final year of his contract, has attracted interest throughout the NBA as a potential trade target.

However, new GM Danny Ferry has reportedly ended all discussions for the time being, preferring to get settled in his new job and map out what the best way forward for the organization.

With Al Horford probably untouchable and Joe Johnson's contract almost certainly untradeable, Smith is the most likely player the Hawks could move to shake up a core that hasn't made it to the Eastern Conference Finals in five trips to the playoffs.

There have been many intriguing names linked with Smith, but since he's the only real asset Ferry has in reloading, Atlanta's new GM is probably right too take a step back from the rumor mill and evaluate his new team objectively before making any franchise-altering moves.
