The Atlanta Hawks and Brooklyn Nets continue to discuss a multi-player deal that would give the Hawks some salary relief and send All-Star guard Joe Johnson to Brooklyn.
According to a report by Chad Ford, Atlanta is asking for expiring contracts and second-year shooting guard Marshon Brooks whom the Nets are reluctant to part with. Brooklyn is also showing concerns at including all of its expiring contracts in the deal for fear of having less flexibility in the future.
New Jersey would prefer to center the trade around Gerald Green which would be a sign and trade scenario and would allow them to hang onto a couple of their expiring deals. In this situation the Nets want to stay above the salary cap so that they don't lose their mid-level exception.
