Vegas Summer League: John Jenkins, Keith Benson Impress In 102-82 Win

The Atlanta Hawks began the summer league season in style with a 102-82 blowout win over the Washington Wizards. It was a grand debut for John Jenkins who was playing in his first action with the Hawks since being selected in the first-round of the NBA Draft out of Vanderbilt.

Jenkins finished with 19 points and four assists but most importantly for Atlanta was his 4 of 5 shooting from beyond-the-arc. Jenkins displayed outstanding range and a quick release that he showed on a couple of desperation attempts at the shot clock buzzer. In all Jenkins hit 7 of 13 shots and looked poised and in control of his surroundings.

2011 second round pick Keith Benson also had a nice debut adding 19 points and six rebounds. Benson made 9 of 12 shot attempts and was a team-best +25 while on the court. Brad Wanamaker got the start at the point and finished with 13 points and six assists while Frank Hassell came off the bench with 10 points and six boards.

Bradley Beal and Chris Singleton led the Wizards with 22 and 20 points respectively. Beal went 6 of 14 from the field but was 9 of 10 from the free throw line.

Atlanta will enjoy an off day on Saturday before hitting the court Sunday night in a matchup with the San Antonio Spurs.
