The Atlanta Hawks have been extremely active this offseason with new general manager Danny Ferry at the helm. In fact the Hawks are rumored to be in on a number of free agents this offseason including Rashard Lewis. According to reports Lewis has the Hawks on his shortlist and is seeking a team's mini mid-level exception.
A source told The Post the Knicks were on Lewis' short list, along with the Heat, Lakers, Spurts and Hawks. Lewis, who can play small forward at 6-foot-10, is looking to sign for the $3.09 million mini mid-level exception after pocketing a $13.7 million buyout from the Hornets.
Atlanta suddenly has a need for a small forward after trading both Joe Johnson and Marvin Williams. If the season began today Josh Smith would likely be the starting small forward unless Larry Drew opted for a three-guard attack of Jeff Teague, Devin Harris and Anthony Morrow.
