NBA Free Agency 2012: Anthony Randolph Drawing Interest From Hawks

New, 1 comment

Rangy free agent forward Anthony Randolph will meet with the Atlanta Hawks this weekend, according to Marc Spears of Yahoo! Sports. Randolph has been a salivating prospect since he came out of LSU in 2008, but the 6'11 forward has never lived up to his potential and consistently produced on the floor. He was heralded for his freakish length and athleticism in Golden State, but he fell out of favor with the Warriors and has bounced back and forth from New York to Minnesota the past two seasons.

New Hawks general manager Danny Ferry has been on of the more aggressive executives this offseason, but signing Randolph would be taking a flyer on an impressive athlete. According to Spears, Ferry's interest in Randolph will lead to a meeting this weekend:

An occasional Josh Smith and Randolph pairing on the floor would make for an incredible athletic show for the Hawks. Randolph played in just 34 games last season, averaging 7.4 points in 15.2 minutes per game. He was a restricted free agent but the Wolves decided not to give him a qualifying offer.
