Atlanta Thrashers Are NHL's Heaviest Team, Thanks To Dustin Byfuglien

[Varsity and Krispy Kreme joke.]

Pension Plan Puppets, SB Nation's Maple Leafs community, crunched some biographical numbers to rank NHL teams by height, weight, and age.

Your Atlanta Thrashers took the cake, averaging 211 pounds per player. Then they poured barbecue sauce on the cake, buried it in batter, fried the hell out of it, invited Paula Deen in to contribute her latest in butter research, and served the end result to themselves with a side of cheesy jalapeño cornbread. #anditwascountry

PPP discovered Dustin Byfuglien, all 265 pounds of him, is the one tipping the scale here. Without BIGfuglien, the Thrashers' average weight dips to a little over 208.

For a sense of how immense that is: Byfuglien is bigger than five Atlanta Falcons linemen.
