Ondrej Pavelec Still In Hospital For Observation

The Thrashers’ 23 year old starting goaltender is still recuperating in hospital after his collapse during the first period of last night’s 4-2 win over the Washington Capitals. Pavelec is suffering from a mild concussion that occurred when his head hit the ice during the fall. His mask cushioned the blow, but he need to be watched for any post-concussive symptoms. The concussion should keep him out of quite a few upcoming games for safety’s sake, making it very possible that Chicago Wolves goaltender Drew MacIntyre will accompany the team on their upcoming west coast road trip.

Chris Vivlamore of the AJC will be speaking to Pavelec later this afternoon. No one seems to know much regarding the cause of his collapse. News will hopefully be forthcoming as to the reason for it.
